Our ductless Class II, Type A2 biosafety cabinets (BSCs) are ventilated enclosures designed to provide operator, product or specimen, and environmental protection from particulates and biologicals. Biosafety in the laboratory is critical when work involves infectious diseases and toxins and cell and tissue culturing, where product contamination must be avoided. Preventing lab-acquired infections in personnel can also be achieved by reducing potential exposure to droplets or splashes, preventing contaminants from escaping the work area.
Air Science® Purair BIO biosafety cabinets provide a primary containment work area for life science research, cell culture processing, and other applications. The Purair BIO is a Class II, Type A2 biosafety cabinet with your choice of NSF/ANSI 49 certified models.
Our ductless BSC provides a safe laboratory workspace using optimum airflow design and an integrated HEPA filtration system. Room air is drawn in through the intake grille on the front of the unit, then under the work surface and directed to the top of the cabinet, passing through a HEPA filter. Negative pressure inside the cabinet results in a primary containment work area. At the same time, the HEPA filtration supplies clean air to the work surface in a vertical laminar flow pattern. These airflow patterns provide an optimum air curtain on the front opening, maintaining personnel and product protection. The exhaust HEPA filter traps biohazardous particles before the air is exhausted back into the laboratory, preserving environmental protection.

Yes. All certified Biological Safety Cabinets are required to confirm to NSF Criteria for a series of performance attributes agreed upon by industry manufacturers, government agencies and independent users. These attributes include airflow face velocity from outside the cabinet to the interior, downflow velocity from the filter inside the top of the cabinet, and the split between single pass and recirculated air. Additionally, HEPA and/or ULPA filters must be tested for efficiency and safety before installation. Detailed information on required Biological Safety Cabinet performance specifications is available through Air Science literature and the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), the regulatory body that oversees standards.
